title page from fiche

If you are looking for vendors of DS420 spare parts go to my web-links page.

This manual RTC9887FAG (Aug 2000) is the very last Parts Catalogue that was published for the DS420; it was issued on microfiche. Note that 'August 2000' is approx. 8 years after the production of the model ended.

It explicitly states that it only serves the limousines built from July 1980 onwards (i.e. the cars that have the General Motors GM400 gearbox fitted). For older cars it recommends Parts Catalogue RTC9183B from 1978. For the earliest cars we have, from the 1971/1972 era, Parts Catalogue JC53. Between the recommended RTC9183B (1978) and the RTC9887FAG (2000) shown on this page we have Parts Catalogue RTC9887CD (1985), Parts Catalogue RTC9887FAB (1987) and Parts Catalogue RTC9887FAE (1989).

Contrary to the paper based catalogues, the microfiches were organized as landscape-oriented double pages, effectively like landscape A3 format. Therefore they are best viewed on a landscape-oriented display.

The microfiche editions started in January 1979, The first one had part number RTC9877FA. These microfiches were updated a few times per year and labeled RTC9877FA, RTC9877FB, RTC9877FC etc. In 1981 the prefix of the label changed from RTC9877 to RTC9887, again with a two letter suffix (three letter suffix from July 1987) to distinguish the subsequent editions. Most editions consist of two fiches, where one fiche holds up to 504 page images. The forelast one in my collection (not shown on this website) has part number RTC9887FAF and dates from February 1990. For a list of microfiche publication numbers and dates: click here.
