The authors contacted me with their wish to get more DS420 coverage in the
"Flagships" section of the magazine of the Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club.
Nigel Thorley then reworked the text of an article
that I once submitted to Brian Smith for inclusion in Brian's book
"Daimler Days Vol 3".
In the December 2024 issue Peter Irwin described how we met at a Jaguar Day in September 2024, when I happened to be near Gaydon and visited that event. |

Gaydon Limousine gathering
Craig Talbot traveled all the way from Canada to join us at the DS420 meeting in Gaydon on May 11th 2025. His friend Ray Ingman covered the meeting in this article for the magazine of the Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club. More on Craig's "Japanese import" DS420 is in the Cars and Owners section of this website. More about the reason why he needs a stronger engine to conquer the Rocky Mountains was discussed by Craig in a magazine article that he wrote for the Classic Jaguar magazine in October/November 2021. Giles Usher, editor of the Carriagecraft magazine of the Vanden Plas Owners' Club and fellow DS420 owner, approached me for assistance as a guest co-editor for a 'DS420 Special' issue of the club magazine and I happily cooperated. The front and back cover pages show my car DR-06-17.
