Venezuela: Presidential Limousine

In 1976 a left-hand drive DS420 was ordered for the President of Venezuela. It was car 1M20133, i.e. the 133th left-hand drive car since the DS420 was introduced in 1968. Production took place at Vanden Plas in Kingsbury, N.London, in February 1976.

This car is now on display at the Transport Museum in Caracas, Venezuela's capital. The name in Spanish is: Museo del Transporte Guillermo José Schael. The museum doesn't seem to have a website of its own, but references can easily be found, e.g. on the Museodata site.

The display on the photo presents the car as a 1969 one. This is clearly wrong, because as such it would have had the double chrome waistline, and the rear side windows would have been of the wind-down type.

The body was originally painted in Dark Blue, and the interior was in Tan leather. The car still bears its original (UK issued) license plate number NKV9P.
