Daimler DS420 Owner's Manual AKM 8090 Ed 3 (1987 est)

This publication AKM8090 with its typical red cover is the last Owner's Manual (Operating, Maintenance and Service Handbook) for the DS420. It was published in 5 consecutive editions.

We show here the 3rd edition, published in 1987 (est.). The 1st edition (1980) and 2nd edition (1983) are substantially smaller; the 4th edition (1989) is quite similar to the 3rd, as is the 5th edition (~1991).

Earlier versions of the Owner's Manual, preceding the AKM8090 family, are from 1974, from 1972, and from 1968.

Note that this is the first handbook after the big face-lift operation where the front of the car got its new appearance with the full rubber bumpers and the low grille. Typical new items on the car, and typical changes over the previous manual description are: front seat adjustment (p015), position of the hazard light switch on the dashboard (item 17 in the picture) (p.22). choke handle became a turning knob (p027), reading lamps got covered feet (p037), foot rests in passenger compartment (p039), new model screenwash water reservoir (p067), SU-HIF44 carburettors replaced the previous SU-HIF7 (p125), Michelin XVS tubeless tyres replaced the Dunlop H70HR-15SP; the advisory figures for tyre pressure changed with them, (p126), optional curtains / blinds (p074), new fuel line filter (p100), door guard lamps (p121).
