Ignition coil, but judging from earlier photos this is not the one "in service" Earlier photos showed another coil just above the pressure sensor for the brake light, which is visible in the upper right corner of the photo. Obviously, the car only needs one coil, so this one was probably left in place after it had failed. On the left side of the photo is the space between the left front wheel well and the left headlights. The hand of the mechanic is entering through the place where the radiator was (now dismounted).
