The funeral trade bought the DS420 as coachbuilt hearse bodies, but also was by far the largest customer of DS420 limousines. The monthly "Funeral Director" magazine of the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) in Solihull (UK) is the main communication channel to reach this customer base. Both hearse builders and limousine distributors placed many advertisements.
The NAFD very kindly provided access to the bound volumes of their magazine, to allow photos of these advertisements to be taken. So far, the years 1968-1988 have been "harvested". In due time the remaining DS420 production years (1989-1992) will be added.
For this website the collection has been divided in three parts; the current gallery page contains the advertisements from distributors that specifically targeted limousine sales, and it is organized as a subsidiary of the "Various Sales Illustrations" page of this website.
For hearse sales a similar gallery has been constructed, which was organized as a subsidiary of the "Hearses" main page of this website. Click here to see that hearses gallery.
Advertisements directly from Jaguar/Daimler, some even in colour, were added to the main level of the "Various sales ilustrations" page. Click here to see those Jaguar/Daimler advertisements.
Hovering over a thumbnail photo on this gallery index page will show the name of the Daimler distributor. Clicking on a thumbnail will bring up a large image. The file names of these large images all start with 'FD' followed by the year, and after that either a page number (1968-1986 numbered their pages consecutively during the entire year), or an issue number followed by a page number. Most advertisements were repeated in multiple issues, but the file name of the image is from its first appearence. The thumbnails are in time sequence.
Since the photos were taken from bound volumes, of which many spines were brittle because of their age, all photos show some distortion.
