Left Side. This is an interesting picture of the jacking point just in front of the rear left wheel, looking towards the front of the car. On the right side we are looking into the wheel arch; a small part of the exhaust is visible below that. On the left side we are looking along where once the outer body panel was. You must imagine that the (left) arm rest of the rear bench is behind the shiny surface in the top left corner.

My car is a 1972 one, so it still has the wind down rear windows. Rain water seeps along those windows, and the little drainage pipe (there are several, but not visible here) provide a passage into the sill. Remember, the horizontal edge just below the top opening of the drainage pipe was attached to the outer body panel, which has been removed here.

The idea was of course that other drainage holes deeper down the sill would let the water out. But alas, the water thought differently. You can see how the rust crept towards the middle of the car, just above where a small piece of the exhaust is visible. This part of the car, below the rear bench, is extremely strong. So it will take very long before real problems occur here. But in my car the connection of the radius arm, just behind the jacking stud, had already suffered heavily.
