An interesting detail here is the black rectangular plate on the floor next to the (invisible) accelerator pedal. It is a distance holder, that prevents the accelerator to be pushed in too deep. The aim is not to avoid high speeds! A few pivots and notches on the carburettor lock up if the pedal is pushed really deep. Then the engine will stay under full throttle, which makes it very difficult to get home.
